Mary Catherine Geurkink (née Bills), age 80, passed away in the early hours of August 23, 2025.

She was born on October 4, 1944, in Chicago, IL, to Lawrence Bills and Catherine née Farell. Mary attended Grant High School in Fox Lake, IL, graduating in 1962.

After high school, she worked as a legal secretary and later as a bus driver for special needs children in Downers Grove, IL.

Mary met her husband, David, in her thirties and discovered that she loved riding as a passenger on his motorcycles. Over the 41 wonderful years that they were married the two took many trips enjoying life and adventure they visited several national parks, scenic areas, historic locations and highways all over the continental United States and parts of Canada. The couples most recent trip was a cruise of the British Isles and Ireland—spending nearly two weeks at sea, taking in the culture, sights, and each other's company.

Mary was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Roselle, IL, where she found a strong and loving community.

She is survived by her two children, Christine (Christopher) Hillmer and William (Julie) Walleck; eight grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Mary will be remembered for her love; of Jesus, her beloved husband David, her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and many dear friends. She was a woman of strength and dignity.

Services will be private. Arrangements entrusted to Hultgren Funeral Home.
