Mary Jane Barabas, nee Hendrickson, age 96, a resident of Windsor Park in Carol Stream, and formerly a longtime resident of Wheaton, went to be with the Lord on Friday, November 14, 2014, at Central DuPage Hospital in Winfield, Illinois. She was born January 6, 1918 in Johnstown, Pennsylvania to Charles and Myrtle Hendrickson.

Her advanced education was received at the Moore Institute of Art in Philadelphia, PA, Wheaton College, Wheaton IL (B.A.), and Columbia Teachers' College, New York City, CY (M.A.) Her schooling prepared her for work as a commercial artist in New York City, as a teacher in the public schools of Long Island, NY, and as a teacher in the Wheaton College Art Department.

In 1950 she married Steven Barabas, a teacher of Bible and Theology at Wheaton College. STeven died in 1983 in Wheaton.

Mrs. Barabas was active in the Wheaton College Womens' Club circles, College Church of Wheaton (of which she was a member), and the local chapter of the DAR.

She is survived by two children, Dan Barabas and Kathleen Barabas. She was preceded in death by her husband and two sisters, Lois Hendrickson and Olena Mae Welsch.

A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, November 18, at 1:00 p.m. at Hultgren Funeral Home, 304 N. Main St., Wheaton, IL 60187. Friends may visit with the family from 12 noon until 1:00 p.m. Interment will follow at Wheaton Cemetery in Wheaton, Illinois.
