Obituary

Marlene Medick, age 94, of Wheaton, IL, formerly of Columbus,  Ohio, passed away at her home on Saturday, Dec. 6, 2025. She was born on October 29, 1931, in Milwaukee, WI, to Grant Richason and Mildred (née Norman).

Marlene grew up in West Allis, WI and attended West Allis High School, class of 1949. After high school she went to school to become a stewardess and flew for several years for Eastern Airlines. During that time, while living in Miami,  she met her husband, G. Michael Medick, a Korean war veteran, who was working at the airport while going to school.

Marlene married the love of her life in November 1953. They had three children together; one died after childbirth.

While her children were young, Marlene discovered her true passion was in the field of Interior Design. After working as an interior designer for a department store in Columbus, Ohio for several years, she started her own company, Marlene Medick Interior Design , assisting homeowners in making the living space a delight to the eyes and the soul. For years Marlene helped her clients design and decorate houses and make them into homes. In 2017, at the age of 85,  Marlene retired from the interior design business but she never lost her passion for her profession and continued to help her friends whenever they asked.

Marlene was also well known for her warm and loving personality and incredible sense of style.  Marlene is survived by her son, Mark Medic and daughter Erinmarie McKinney; grandchildren Michael (partner Shelby Keen) Medick and Matthew (Val) Medick.
Marlene was preceded in passing by her parents, her husband of 48 years, G. Michael Medick and their son, Michael Kirk Medick.

Marlene's contributions to the people and places around her cannot be underestimated. She left every place she went to more beautiful than when she arrived and her energy inspired everyone who knew her.

The family is planning a Memorial Gathering for a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations to Guiding Eyes for the Blind or PAWS Chicago in Marlene's memory would be appreciated.
