Mark Steven Carlson, 71 of Glen Ellyn, IL, left this earth on September 15, 2026. Born February 10, 1955, he was the 2nd child and only boy of 5 children born to Allan (Pat) and Virginia (Whitney) Carlson. Raised in Wheaton, IL, he was an alumni of Wheaton North High School. Following high school he spent many years at Spraying Systems in Carol Stream as a screw machinist. He also spent several years working in construction.

He enjoyed sports and was a Chicago Cubs fan and huge Chicago Bears fan. In his younger days he owned motorcycles and enjoyed long, cross country trips.

As Mark’s health issues slowed him down, especially in the last year, he had some deeply personal conversations regarding his faith and belief in Jesus as his Lord and Savior. Mark didn’t take a traditional path and wasn’t one for religious routines, but that quiet confession is a comfort to hold on to-knowing his heart was open to the Lord. It is our hope in his final moments here on earth, like the thief on the cross, he cried out to our Lord and Savior and received His forgiveness, comfort and peace.

He is survived by his son, David, two granddaughters, Kaylee and Taylor, two sisters, JoAnne (Dale, deceased) Marshall , Nancy (Rick) McGinn, several nieces, nephews and cousins. He is preceded in death by his parents, 2 sisters, Cindy and Karin.

A Memorial Service is Saturday, October 3, 2026 at Highpoint Church, 1310 N Main St, Wheaton, IL. Visitation is from 10-11 am, service starting at 11am, followed by a luncheon at the church.

Burial service is Monday, October 5, 2026, 11am at Chapel Hill Gardens West, 17W201 Roosevelt Rd, Oakbrook Terrace, IL.
