Obituary

Marjorie Alice Winchell, age 88, went to be with the Lord March 18, 2016 in Lancaster, PA. Marjorie was the devoted wife of Richard "Dick" Winchell, both long time missionary statesmen with TEAM (The Evangelical Alliance Mission).

She is survived by three children, Martha "Marti" (Ray) Williams of Adelaide, Australia, Leigh (Nancy) Winchell of Brussels, Belgium, Barry (Dawn) Winchell of Randolph, NJ; ten grandchildren, Nathan Winchell and Sharon (Paul) Neville, Andrea (Evan) Parker, Leanne and Pamela Williams, Christopher (Lauren) Winchell, Justin and Ryan Winchell, Stephen and Cristina Winchell; and 5 great grandchildren, Evelyn Winchell, Rowan Neville, Alexander and Theodore Parker, Emma Winchell; one brother David (Lee) Lundquist, one sister Nancy (Alan) Nelson, and many nephew, nieces and their children.  She is preceded by her husband Richard Winchell, her son Peter (Joan Hill) and her brother Richard (Joyce) Lundquist.

Marjorie was born in Woburn, Massachusetts April 4, 1927 to Victor and Ruth "Dot" (Olson) Lundquist. She met Dick, also of Woburn, at Church of the Open Bible in Burlington, Massachusetts as a youth.  They were married there on December 26, 1949 and left for Africa early in 1950. She and Dick served as missionaries with TEAM in South Africa from 1950 - 1968. Then they were asked to serve in the International Headquarters of TEAM in Wheaton, Illinois. In 1975 Dick became the General Director.  Marjorie served with grace and distinction by his side as the "First Lady" of TEAM for 19 years.

While her children were in the home, she dedicated herself to being a mother while also serving Wheaton College in their Health Center as an insurance clerk for more than 25 years and traveling with her husband when possible.  After retiring she joined Dick traveling to many countries ministering to missionaries and nationals all around the world.

Marjorie opened her home and heart to countless missionaries, nationals from around the world along with guests of all kinds. She offered wisdom by example and counsel to the entire TEAM family, and then beyond in all the places she lived after that in Stuart, Florida; Sandwich, Massachusetts; Randolph, New Jersey and Lancaster, Pennsylvania.

Marjorie Alice Winchell April 4, 1927 - March 18, 2016. We were weaned on her love, raised to embrace her faith, inspired to follow Jesus because of her simple resolve to obey Him Whatever He said, Whenever He asked and Wherever He led. We her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and extended family are eternally grateful.
