IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Marion S.
King
June 2, 1933 – October 4, 2022
Marion S. King, age 89, went home to heaven on October 4, 2022. She was born June 2, 1933, in Chicago IL to Elmer and Astrid Stone. Marion grew up in Chicago and had 1 older brother, Gordon. Her summers were spent in Rice Lake, WI at their beloved family cabin. In 1950 Marion graduated from North Park Academy and embarked on her college career at Purdue University. She joined the Delta Gamma sorority and through a Greek function met a handsome Indiana farm boy named Jim King. They graduated from Purdue in 1954 and were married on June 19th of the same year. Jim entered the Air Force and they moved to various bases in the South. Marion's first daughter, Kathy, was born in Laredo, TX. Second daughter, Valerie, was born in El Paso. After completing his AF service, Jim and Marion moved to Peoria, IL where 3rd daughter, Carolyn, was born. In 1968, the King family moved to Glen Ellyn where Marion lived until 2015 when she moved to Windsor Park, her residence until death.
In addition to raising her 3 daughters, Marion was very involved at the former Wheaton Evangelical Free Church. She had a lifelong love of learning and enjoyed classes at Wheaton College and COD. For many years Marion was involved in her much loved book club.
Marion had a love for her pet dogs, trees, birds and books, but her greatest joy on this earth was her grandchildren, their spouses and her great grandchildren. She was a faithful correspondent, generous gift giver and devoted prayer warrior. We are grateful for Marion's legacy of faith and generosity and she will be missed. We are so thankful that she is at perfect peace with her Lord Jesus.
She is survived by her three daughters, Kathy (Bob) Duncan, of Wheaton, IL, Valerie (Loren) Voigt Balman, of Franklin, TN and Carolyn (Lance) Ferrin, of Littleton, CO; her eight grandchildren: Michael (Kelli) Duncan, Jenny (Brandon) Casburn, Daniel (Paige) Voigt, Kirsten Duncan, Katelyn (Taylor) Hill, Zane (Anna) Ferrin, Reese (Courtney) Ferrin and Trey Ferrin and 10 great-grandchildren with 2 more expected.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Jim; and son-in-law, Tom Voigt.
A memorial service will be held at a later date to be announced.
Interment was private at Forest Hill Cemetery in Glen Ellyn, Illinois.
We ask that in lieu of flowers, donations in Marion's honor can be made to TEAM , PO Box 1683, Carol Stream, Illinois 60132 or to The Morton Arboretum
