Obituary

Marilyn Taylor, age 87, of Glen, Ellyn, Illinois passed in her sleep on Saturday, April 14, 2018. Marilyn was born in Decatur, Illinois on July 17, 1930, with her twin sister, Marian, to the parents of E. J. and Daisy Andrews. "The Twins" joined their two older brothers, Keith and Lloyd, in the bustling Andrews home on 2262 N. Church Street.

Marilyn graduated from Decatur High School in 1948 and married Curtis O. Taylor on November 19, 1955. Marilyn dedicated her life to raising their two children, Diane and Brian, and was involved in the community where she served as presidents of the Parent Teachers Association (PTA) and the local home owners association along with volunteering as an election judge.

Later in life, she graciously shared her "parenting skills" again as she watched her granddaughters, allowing Diane to continue her working career. She delighted in her six grandchildren, Brian's three boys – Jack, Mark and Will - and Diane's three girls – Jackie, Ellie, and Katie. Marilyn frequented garage sales picking up children's toys and shopped for the grandkids' Christmas gifts all year-round. She also enjoyed puzzles, solitaire and playing the piano/organ.

As arthritis overcame her legs, Curt became her mobility. She couldn't have asked for a better partner with more energy or passion in caring for her daily needs. After 40 plus years in their family home in Palatine, Marilyn and Curt transitioned to their new life at the Meadows, now the Brookdale, in Glen Ellyn. Within a short period of time, Marilyn adjusted to the welcoming, social environment and loved going to the dining room for dinner. Their guests enjoyed it, too!

She is survived by her son Brian Taylor; daughter Diane (Randy) Roeing; and grandchildren Jaclyn Roeing, Elaina Roeing, Kathleen (Tyler) Roach, and Jack, Mark and William Taylor, two brothers, Keith Andrews and Lloyd (Nell) Andrews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Curt and her sister, Marian White.

A committal service is being planned at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery, 20953 W. Hoff Rd, Elwood, IL 60421.

The family would like to thank the caregivers of Brookdale and Peace facilities for their thoughtful care that truly enriched her life.
