Obituary

Marilyn P. Mallin, age 57, a resident of West Chicago for 16 years, died on Thursday, October 21, following a heart attack on October 16th. She was born on August 17, 1953, in Chicago.

She graduated from Niles West High School in 1971 and then graduated summa cum laude from Loyola University Chicago with double majors in English and History in 1974. She graduated from Northwestern University School of Law in 1977 and was admitted to the Illinois State Bar the same year. On August 21, 1976, she married Thomas Mallin, a classmate at law school. Marilyn worked at Chicago Title Insurance Company and later at Liability Insurance Research Bureau.

She had a lifelong love of music and paid for her education by playing as a church organist. She sang in community choruses and church choirs and has been a member of the choir at College Church in Wheaton for seven years. She was an avid photographer and genealogist. Her faith was an important part of her life and she was a member of the Women's Bible Study at College Church. She was also a faithful supporter of the arts and faith-based organizations.

Marilyn is survived by her husband, Thomas, her parents August and Mary Schulz of Morton Grove, one sister, Marjorie Schulz of Morton Grove, and aunts, uncles, and cousins.

A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, October 26, at 11:00 a.m. at College Church, 335 E. Seminary St. in Wheaton. Friends may visit with the family from 9:00 until the service at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Wheaton Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to College Church or the American Diabetes Association.
