Obituary

Marilyn A. Evans, age 75, a resident of Wheaton and formerly a resident of Flint, Michigan, died Tuesday, January 13. She was born in Cheboygan, Michigan on March 13, 1933 to Dean and Vivian McCarthy.

She graduated from Flint Central High School. She worked at Smith-Bridgman's and Hudson's in Flint for many years, where she was known for her laughter and kindness. In 1956 she married Richard Evans. Marilyn sold cosmetics to help put Dick through law school. Together they lived in Flint where he practiced law and eventually became a probate judge. She was a longtime member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Flint. After Dick died in 1970, she returned to the work force to put her daughter through the University of Michigan and law school. Her daughter became a judge as well.

She is survived by her daughter, Kathryn (Ron) Creswell of Wheaton, two granddaughters, Marilyn (17) and Julia (15), one sister, Joanne Paul of Holland, Michigan and a niece, Tamara Bradford and nephew, Dean Paul.

Marilyn was preceded in death by her husband, Judge Richard Evans and her parents.

Services and interment at Pine Hill Cemetery in Cheboygan will be privately held.
