Obituary

Marilyn E. Johnson, age 90, a longtime resident of Schiller Park, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, July 26, 2017.  She was born November 11, 1926 in Chicago to Henry and Adele Matson.

Marilyn attended Schurz High School and Wheaton College. She met Carl "Bert" Johnson at a wedding and they were married on October 2, 1948.  She was an active longtime member of Midwest Bible Church where she taught Sunday school, sang in the choir and played piano.  From 1954 until the 1980's she worked as the cook for Phantom Ranch Camp in Wisconsin, where she was lovingly known as "Ma".  She was a devoted grandmother, an accomplished pianist and enjoyed word search puzzles.

She is survived by three children, Jim Johnson of Baraboo, WI, Judy Johnson of Schiller Park, and Bill (Tammie) Johnson of Round Lake, three grandsons, Peter (Tara), Will (Tabea), and Erik Johnson, granddaughter-in-law, Kristen, five great-grandchildren, Carter, Madeline, Lincoln, Olivia and Ellie, former daughter-in-law, Holly Staudacher, her siblings, Doris (Art) Bauer, Dr. Howard (Nancy) Matson, Grace Peterson, sister-in-law Lois Matson and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl "Bert" Johnson, her grandson, Daniel Johnson, her parents, her sister and brother-in-law, Virginia and Richard Trebilco, her brother Henry Matson and brother-in-law, Paul Peterson.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, August 5 from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service at 11:00 at Midwest Bible Church, 3441 N. Cicero, Chicago.  Interment will take place at Ridgewood Cemetery in Des Plaines following a luncheon at the church.
