Dinkel

It is with great sadness the family of Marilyn Leslie (Carlson) Dinkel announces her passing on October 18, 2018.
Marilyn was born in Chicago on May 17, 1938 to Lester & Nellie Carlson. She grew up in Edgebrook with her sister Linnea, attended Taft High School and graduated in 1963 from North Park College with a BA in Education. On June 29, 1963 she married John Allan Dinkel and together they raised two children in Oak Brook, IL. In 1971, they built a cottage on Sunset Lake in Iron River, MI where she enjoyed spending summers with family.
In 1974, she co-founded and co-directed the Hinsdale Covenant Church Pre-School. After 21 years of teaching, she embarked on a new adventure as a travel consultant and took many opportunities to travel the world.
Marilyn enjoyed traveling with her husband and family as well as spending the spring and fall in Scottsdale, AZ. She loved spending time with her family. Many of her talents included quilting, needlework, gardening, baking, water color painting and colored pencils. She also enjoyed taking part of the many activities, concerts and programs at Windsor Park where she has lived for 14 years.
Marilyn was an active member of her church and she had strong faith and a love for God. Her caring and compassionate qualities contributed to her love for helping others. She volunteered her time on many mission trips to Mountain Top, TN, one to Ecuador and took part in FMSC.
Marilyn was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She is survived by her husband John, her sister Linnea Robbins, her children Brian (Kathy) Dinkel of Peoria, AZ and Cynthia (Keith) Bac of Bartlett, IL, her grandchildren Anthony, Francis, Justin, Matthew, Ashley and Nicole, great grandchildren, a niece & nephew and many cousins.
A Celebration of Marilyn's Life will be held on December 28, 2018 at 1:30 pm at Windsor Park Retirement Community in Carol Stream, IL.
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be given to the Windsor Park Benevolent Fund.
