Margaret Marie Zander's Obituary
Margaret Marie Zander, nee Morgan, age 82, a resident of Winfield, IL, went to be with the Lord, Friday April 26, 2013, at Johnson Health Care Center in Carol Stream, Illinois. She was born June 27, 1930 in Louisiana, Missouri to James Pearl and Anna Marie Morgan, nee Wells.
She grew up in Wyoming and Washington and graduated from high school in Rochester, Washington. As a teenager she came to faith in Christ through the ministry of American Sunday School Union in rural Washington. This was the impetus for her life of service. She graduated from Prairie Bible Institute in Three Hills, Alberta, Canada and after attending George Fox College and the University of Oklahoma graduated from Governors State University in University Park, IL. Margaret joined Wycliffe Bible Translators and completed Jungle Missions Training in Mexico. Through Wycliffe she met the love of her life, Forrest Zander and they were married on September 27, 1958 in Union Church of Mexico City. They have served in Peru, Ecuador, and Colombia and as representatives in the United States for over 50 years.
Margaret was a teacher to missionary children in South America and served as a teacher locally. She was active in prayer ministries, Bible Study Fellowship and was known for her hospitality and needle crafts. She served with her husband in Church Missions conferences and Missions events in the Midwest. She was devoted to her family and seldom missed a sporting event of her children and grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband, Forrest Zander of Winfield, three children, Anna (Tim) Murphy of Chicago, Arlene (Randall) Johnson of Neenah, WI, and Alby (Lorri) Zander of Carol Stream, 8 grandchildren, Nora Margaret, Charles Forrest, Zachary Newton, Mattelin Morgan, Colbey Morgan, Leeya Lorraine, Samson Parker, and Benjamin Peda.
She was preceded in death by one son, Forrest Gene Zander Jr., her parents, and three siblings.
A visitation will be held May 3, 2013 from 4 to 8 p.m. at Hultgren Funeral Home, 304 N. Main St., Wheaton. A funeral service will be held May 4, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. at Wheaton Wesleyan Church, 1300 S. President St., Wheaton, IL . Interment will be held privately at Homewood Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
