Margaret Sauer passed away on January 31,2018. She was born on January 22, 1923 in Chicago, IL, the oldest of four children of Margaret and John Daichendt. Her sister, Helen, died in 1928, and a year later, her mother died. Marge and her two brothers were placed in a Lutheran orphanage in Addison, IL where she lived until she was sixteen. At that time, she was taken in as a nanny for Henrietta and Elmer Triebes, whom she lovingly referred to as Mom and Pop Triebes. She helped raise their three boys until she met her husband, Walter Sauer. They were married in 1947. They spent their entire married life in Wheaton, Illinois where they raised their three children.
Marge had a strong faith and was a lifelong member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Wheaton. She was active in JOY Group and Evening Circle at church, Beta Sigma Phi, the Junior Women's Club, as well as being an avid bowler and golfer. She loved her years spent volunteering for the Ray Graham Center working with intellectually challenged adults.
Her greatest joy was being a wife and mother. She led by example, showing her children what a "servant heart" looked like. Whether she was making cakes for the USO, serving as chairman of a Mother and Daughter Banquet, or working as a Cub Scout den mother, she gave back!
Her 95 years were filled with both tragedy and joy, but she never gave up and persevered through aging issues at the end.
Marge was predeceased by her husband, Walter; her daughter, Sue; brothers, John and Michael Daichendt and John and Dick Triebes; her sister and her parents.
She is survived by her daughter, Barb Pemberton; her son, Jos (Kathy) Sauer; her brother, Tom (Fran) Triebes; and sister-in-law, Virginia Daichendt; her grandchildren, Ryan (Helen) and Tim (Abbey) Pemberton, Mark (Sarah) Sauer, and Joel (Christy) and Michael Guinane. She was also blessed with five special great-grandchildren, Reid, Henry, Merritt, Libby and Millie. Marge also leaves behind many beloved nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
