Obituary

Margaret W. Pfaffle, age 107, a resident of Wheaton, died July 8, 2021, at Wynscape Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Wheaton, Illinois. She was born November 2, 1913 in Sumas, Washington to William & Lesta Wright.

Margaret completed her undergraduate education at Oberlin College in Oberiln, Ohio. She continued her studies at Wellesley College in Wellesley Massachusetts where she received a master's degree and eventually earned a doctorate in German from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. She loved to travel. Upon the completion of her studies, she traveled to Germany, and returned to the United States just before the Hitler regime took over. After returning back to America, Margaret worked as a teacher at Elmhurst High School where she taught German for many years and was head of the language department. She was an active member of: Trinity Episcopal Church and St. Catherine's Guild, York HS '56-75, and the Altar Guild. She was an excellent bridge player and enjoyed working on puzzles and watching Jeopardy.

She is survived by many grand & great-grand nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard in 1974; their daughter, Peggy, in 1964; and a sister, Alice Wright Wilbur.

A memorial service will be held at Trinity Episcopal Church, 130 N West St., Wheaton, IL 60187 , on Friday, July 16, 2021 at 11:00am. Interment will be held at Wheaton Cemetery.
