Margaret Fanthorpe was born in England on June 26, 1942.  She was raised and educated in England, graduating from a secondary, commercial, secretarial school.  The skills Margaret acquired were a catalyst to a successful career.

Margaret was fiercely independent, resilient, and strong, supporting herself financially her entire life.  She was proficient in French and Italian languages.  Margaret worked for the Department of Defense, NATO and the World Bank while living in London, Brussels and the United States.  Margaret became a citizen of the United States in 1977 of which she was very proud.

Margaret worked as a legal secretary and executive assistant in successive law firms while living in Washington, D.C.  She was employed at the National Office of Holy Childhood Association in Washington prior to her move to Chicago in 1998.  While living in Chicago, Margaret was a legal assistant and secretary in both private and public sectors before retiring in 2007.

Margaret was a devote Catholic, a woman of faith and believed in God's timing, purpose, and plan for her life.  She lived out her faith in kindness, compassion, care and love for others.  Margaret had a keen interest in world history, politics, and animals.

After her retirement Margaret supported Chicago PAWS and adopted her beloved cat, Pepper.   Pepper was her companion and brought her much joy.  Donations to PAWS in Margaret's name will be a fitting memorial.

Relatives & friends are invited to meet directly at St. Michael Catholic Church, 310 S. Wheaton Ave., Wheaton, IL 60187, on Friday,  May 19, 2023, for a Funeral Mass at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Assumption Cemetery in Wheaton, Illinois.
