Obituary

Malorice Topps was born on February 24th, 1937, to Olevia Turner, after the death of their mother, she and her sister Carol were raised by their grandmother Harriet "Hattie" Turner. She accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior and was baptized at an early age by Reverend Jaynes at Second Baptist Church, in Wheaton.

Malorice attended Lowell School Elementary, Franklin Jr. High, and Graduated from Wheaton Community High School in 1956. After graduation, she married Leonard Topps and started a family.

Malorice, worked all her life beginning in sales at Carson Pirie Scott, Montgomery Wards, District 200, and ending her career at Spraying System. She was the heart and soul of every department she worked in no matter the industry.

Malorice had an infectious personality touching the lives of so many she encountered whether she was letting someone know exactly what she thinks with love or giving directions until the day she left this earth. She had a way of lighting up a room and somehow found the strength and tenacity of overcoming health challenges at age 58 and again at 68 both with only a One Percent chance of surviving.

Malorice, is the definition of Grit with a combination of determination and perseverance to live her life to the fullest not taking any day for granted. She would say "never worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself!'

Malorice went to be with the Lord on December 19th, 2022. Preceded in death by her Mother Olevia Turner, Grandmother Harriet "Hattie" Turner, Great Grandmother Stella Payne, and her Uncle George Turner. She leaves to cherish her memory her Children: Linda (Robert) Magett, Leonard Topps Jr., Lorraine "Libby" (Randy) Hocker, John (Diana) Topps, and Cameron Topps; her Grandchildren: Shree Topps, Komega Gutierrez, Herb Lawrence, Kenise Lawrence, Justin Hocker, Brooklyn Hocker, Michaela VanWinkle, Isaiah Topps, Elijah Topps, Kimani Topps & Jayla Daniel; and a host of great-grandchildren. Also survived by her sister Carroll Lister, a Niece Tracey Lister.
