IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Mabel A.
Murrow Clements
December 2, 1938 – May 7, 2024
In loving memory of Mabel A. Murrow Clements, age 85, of St. Charles, IL, who peacefully entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, May 7, 2024. Born on December 2, 1938, Mabel's journey began in the warmth of her family home in Saline County, Illinois.
Mabel's early years were rooted in the simplicity and resilience of family farm life, where she blossomed as the cherished daughter of a hardworking coal miner. Her spirited nature and grace led her to be crowned Homecoming Queen at Carrier Mills High School, a testament to her enduring charm and presence.
On August 3, 1957, Mabel embarked on a lifelong journey with her beloved husband, Benjamin Murrow. Together, they created a home filled with love and warmth, first in Bensenville, IL, and later in Glen Ellyn, IL, where they nurtured their two sons and created lasting memories.
In 1981, life's path led Mabel and Benjamin to Baltimore, OH, where they embraced new adventures and experiences. In 1991, they moved back to Carrier Mills, where they built their retirement home.
Following Benjamin's passing in 1999, Mabel's resilient spirit guided her to find love once again with Albert "Gene" Clements, whom she married in 2004.
Throughout her life, Mabel found joy in simple pleasures, whether it was quilting alongside her dear sister Gladys or sharing heartfelt conversations with her beloved sister Nellie. However, her true passion lay in lifting her voice in song as a cherished member of the choir at the First Church of God in Marion, where she found solace and community.
Mabel's legacy of love lives on through her son, Bradley (Sally) Murrow, and her cherished grandchildren, Rebecca (Dan) McCracken and Benjamin (Gabby) Murrow, and two great-grandchildren, Pierce Edward McCracken and Isla Mae Murrow, who were the light of her life. She is also survived by her devoted sister, Nellie Mae Black, and a host of nieces and nephews, each touched by her kindness and warmth.
In addition to her husbands, Mabel was preceded in death by her beloved son, Baron, her loving parents, and her dear sisters, Agnes and Gladys.
A celebration of Mabel's life will be held on Tuesday, May 14, 2024, at 12:00 noon at First Church of God in Marion, IL, where friends and loved ones will gather to honor her memory from 10 a.m. until the time of the service. Following the service, Mabel will be laid to rest at Salem Cemetery in Carrier Mills, Illinois, her final resting place among the fields she once called home. Though she may have left this earthly realm, Mabel's spirit will forever resonate in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing her.
