Mabel Lillian "Mibs" Pfund, age 88, a resident of Windsor Park Manor in Carol Stream and formerly of Wheaton, died Monday, February 20, 2006 at Johnson Healthcare Center at Windsor Park. She was born in Chicago on November 5, 1917 to John and Hilda Tillman.

She was raised in Glen Ellyn and graduated from Glenbard High School in 1936 where she was an honor student, participated in basketball and track and was president of the Women's Athletic Association. After graduation, she worked for Alliance Mutual and Northstar Insurance Companies as a secretary. In 1941 she married LeRoy Pfund. They raised their family in Wheaton and she was a longtime member of College Church in Wheaton. She worked part-time in the family businesses; Pfund and Clint Florists in Elmhurst and Pfund Gifts in Lombard. She also volunteered at the Billy Graham Center at Wheaton College.

Mrs. Pfund is survived by her husband of 64 years, LeRoy H. Pfund, three sons, John L. Pfund of Irvine, CA, Kerry (Carol) W. Pfund of West Chicago and Randall C. Pfund of Miami Beach, FL.

She was preceded in death by her first child LeRoy Jr., her parents, and seven siblings.

A visitation will be held on Friday, February 24, from 3 to 8 p.m. at Hultgren Funeral Home, 304 N. Main St. in Wheaton.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday at 11:00 a.m. at College Church in Wheaton, Washington and Seminary St. in Wheaton.

Interment will be held privately at Wheaton Cemetery.
