Lydia McMillan, age 89, a resident of Winfield, IL, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her daughters on Sunday, November 25, 2018. She was born June 1, 1929 in Detroit, Michigan to Angelo and Rose Monaco the youngest of four children.

She moved to Chicago when she was three years old and attended Marshal High School. She married James McMillan and they moved to Lombard. In 1976, she overcame a debilitating stroke that left her partially paralyzed. In 1992, she moved to Winfield where she was a regular participant in the park district Senior Center and activities and enjoyed going to the farmers market.

Throughout her life she enjoyed telling stories and sharing family history. She enjoyed cooking and after her stroke loved to help her daughters in the kitchen. She also enjoyed puzzles and mystery books. She was always well dressed and accessorized no matter the occasion.

She is survived by her three daughters, Debra (Ed) Foreman of Winfield, Kathi (Joe) Sawyer of Grayslake, and Della (Keith) Ginter of Batavia, nine grandchildren, Jim (Liz) Foreman, Jason (Jessica) Foreman, Jeff (Andrea) Foreman, Jenna Foreman, Joey Sawyer, Kimberly Crawford, Sarah Ginter, Natosha Ginter and Mark Ginter, and one great-granddaughter, Lily Crawford.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Jim, and three siblings.

A visitation will be held on Friday, November 30, 2018 from 4 to 8 p.m. at Hultgren Funeral Home, 304 N. Main St., Wheaton, where a funeral service will be held on Saturday, December 1, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Lisle Cemetery in Lisle IL.
