Luella B. Petermann, age 88, a lifelong resident of Wheaton, died Saturday, November 13, 2004 at the Wynscape Healthcare Center in Wheaton. She was born in Wheaton on May 23, 1916 to Silas and Lydia Hendrixon, who where founding members of St. John Lutheran Church of Wheaton.
From the 1950's she worked for Woolworth's stores in Wheaton, where she managed the lunch counter, and then managed Woolworth's Cafeteria at Yorktown Shopping Center in Lombard. She was active at Christ Our Savior Lutheran Church in Winfield, where she was involved with Concordia Circle and was known as wonderful baker and always provided much food for the Christmas Bazaar.
She is survived by two sons, Henry (Marie) Swaenepoel of NC, and Oliver (Kathy) Swaenepoel of NY, two daughters, Nancy Kleppe of IN and Arlene (Jimmy) Lawnicki of West Chicago, ten grandchildren and twleve great-grandchildren. She is also survived by one brother Clarence (Gen) Hendrixon of MI and one sister, Cerena DeRoo of West Chicago.
She was preceded in death by her husband Martin Petermann, one brother, Wallace Hendrixon, one son-in-law John Kleppe, a brother-in-law, Floyd DeRoo and her parents.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, November 17, from 3 until 8 p.m. at the Hultgren Funeral Home, 304 N. Main St. in Wheaton, where services will be held on Thursday at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Glen Oak Cemetery in Hillside.
