IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Luanne K.
Lawrence
July 23, 1958 – September 16, 2022
Luanne K. Lawrence, age 64, a resident of Carol Stream, Illinois, passed away suddenly on September 16, 2022. She was born July 23, 1958 in Libertyville, Illinois to Horace & Gretchen Polglaze.
Luanne lived in Wheaton for over 45 years, and worked for more than 20 years as a medical fitter at Denson Shops. It was also in Wheaton where she met and fell in love with her devoted husband, Jordan, to whom she had been married since 1991. Sociable, kind, and funny, Luanne could make a friend out of anybody she met and often had people in hysterics with her wisecracks and clever remarks. She was a creative soul, who enjoyed making beaded bracelets, writing, and spicing up her home with a colorful sense of "whimsy," and she adored music, especially blues, classic rock, and the music made by her son, David, and his bands. She had recently gotten back into reading, and loved to have her daughter, Sarah, pick out books for her. She would spend lots of time outside on her patio — which she affectionately dubbed "the lanai," and faithfully decorated every summer with hanging plants, glowing lights, and fun ornaments — to read, chat with neighbors, and simply enjoy all the beautiful days she could. Luanne was passionate about classic movies and classic cars, and loved to watch football anytime it was on, especially when it was her beloved Chicago Bears and Notre Dame. Empathetic and gentle, she was a fervent advocate for St. Jude's and the work of actress Mariska Hargitay and the Joyful Heart Foundation, and she loved animals, especially the neighborhood dogs, as well as elephants, cats, and horses, and often spoke fondly of Dusty and Mr. Sam, the horse and cat she owned as a young woman. In the face of both the hardships and the great joys of her life, she maintained a strong and resilient spirit which never faltered as it carried her forward, inspiring and uplifting all who knew her. Above all else, Luanne absolutely cherished her family and friends, whose love, support, and companionship provided her with immeasurable comfort and happiness, especially in recent years. She had love in her heart for all, and was forever grateful for time spent with her people.
She is survived by her husband of 31 years, Jordan; her children Sarah & David Lawrence; her sister Cathy Polglaze; her brother Dwight (Julie) Polglaze; and her nieces & nephews: Maggie, Sophia, Dolan & Jack Polglaze.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
