IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Louise
Caldwell
August 25, 1951 – April 17, 2024
Louise Inez Caldwell, a devoted Christian and gifted musician, passed away at age 72 on April 17, 2024, in Bloomingdale, Illinois. She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert C. Caldwell and Alice M. Caldwell.
Louise leaves behind a legacy of love, including her brother, Alan C. Caldwell (Mary); nephews: Robert C. Caldwell II and Marcum C. Caldwell (Laura); grandniece Caroline Caldwell and grandnephew Samuel Caldwell who both fondly called her "Daisy", and numerous cousins.
Born in Chicago, Illinois, on August 25, 1951, Louise's love for music blossomed at an early age. After briefly living in New Jersey the family settled in Glen Ellyn in 1956, where she spent many years honing her talents. She studied piano and violin, sang her first solo at the Hadley Junior High School Christmas program, and participated in the Glenbard West High School choir.
Louise's extraordinary voice could fill Wheaton College's Edman Chapel without a microphone and her masterful selections from the Mendelssohn violin concerto earned her admission to Wheaton College to study the violin. However, she discovered her true passion for singing and graduated with a degree in music in 1974, majoring in voice with a minor in violin. One of her teachers remarked the ability to play violin or sing was rare, but the ability to do both was nothing short of genius. Louise also possessed a wonderful touch on the piano, delighting her family and friends with performances.
Despite long-term health challenges, Louise's love of music never waned. She used her abilities to make a living teaching music in the DuPage County School System. Her passionate discussions about music were a great source of inspiration. Even while in assisted living she played with a symphony orchestra in Aurora, Illinois.
Louise spent her last eleven years in a nursing home, where she blessed everyone with her wonderful expression of Christian love. She had a deep faith in Jesus as her Savior. Her nephew Robert shared a profound theological insight from their last conversation, where Louise said, "We were all there in the garden, and we were all there at the Cross," meaning that even as we all fell from grace together, so we were all offered the possibility of redemption together.
