Lorraine Grace Bellingham went to her Heavenly home on Friday, May 31
in her home at Windsor Park in Carol Stream, IL. She was born in
Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada on November 1, 1917 to Victoria Mae
and Frank Whitfield Frogley.
She was an accomplished child and young adult in Winnipeg, starting piano lessons at age 5 and at 16 graduating from the Royal Conservatory of Music. Her tennis game was outstanding, and she won singles/doubles tournaments in Canada and the USA. A graduate of the University of Winnipeg, she was a lifetime member of the Kappa Kappa Gamma Sorority. Her career as a professional pianist was ended
when she met and married John Alexander Bellingham, a then recent
graduate of Princeton Theological Seminary. She became not only his
Minister's wife but also his partner and help-mate in serving the Churches to which they were called. They were a forceful team, living every day to serve their God.
The first Church was the First Presbyterian Church of Stroudsburg, P A.,during which time their children, Mary Ellen and John Jr. were born. A Ministry in Ben Avon, P A. followed. They then accepted a call to establish
a Church in Park Ridge, Il., which they built and served for 25 years.
Lorraine accompanied singing groups, took a leadership role in the programs
of the Church and served on the Board of Presbyterian Women in Chicago.
Their final call was to the Presbyterian Church of Lake Forest where they
ministered for 1 7 years before retiring. Lorraine has kept in touch with
many members from the Park Ridge and Lake Forest Churches, through the
years of separation from them and despite her growing old.
In all the years of service to God, Lorraine was known as a true partner to
John. She was his constant support, even when the days were long and the
demands many. She loved the parishioners and all those she touched, no
matter their station in life. Everyone wanted to be her friend, and she
reciprocated. She never tired of loving, giving, caring and sharing in the
true sense of a Christian woman.
After retirement they moved to Windsor Park Manor, where John died in
2002. She remained there until her death, known by many as the "Queen of
Windsor." She was truly loved and admired by all.
Despite the fact that Lorraine didn't continue quite as she had thought with
her piano and tennis careers, she had many talents which included knitting,
sewing, flower and plant growing, all in which she was proficient. Travel to
Europe and around the world was a great love with Cruises and trips
abounding in their life together. Yet with all the valued moments of life,
her family was first in her heart, as she was the model, mentor and caretaker
of all in beyond her own children and grandchildren.
Lorraine is survived by her loving sister, Shirley Bell of Calgary, Canada
and treasured nieces/nephews there; her adored children Mary Ellen
(Marvin) Johnson, of Glenview, IL., John Alexander Jr. (Rachelle)
Bellingham of DeWitt, MI. Her grandchildren, the loves of her life, are
Mark(Tamara) Nahigian, Todd Alexander(Amy)Nahigian, Matthew(Joey)
Nahigian, and Julie(Daniel)Lowis. Precious GreatGrandchildren Tyler,
Bella, and Lindsay Lowis; Addison and Brooke Nahigian; and Boston and
Hudson Nahigian. Elaine (niece) and William Barger, Princeton, NJ and
children/families have also been a joy in her life.
