Loretta Joy Gildo, a resident of Wheaton, IL since 1973, died Wednesday, October 19, 2011 at home. She was born in Chicago, IL, on September 29,1931.
She attended Trinity High School in River Forest, Barat College in Lake Forest, and did her graduate work at Loyola. Upon retiring in 1993, served as an AVON representative for 6 years, volunteered at the coffee corner at CDH for several years and was a member of the Women's Auxiliary.
Loretta taught school for 31 years, mostly in Addison, Illinois. Later she subbed for several years in Wheaton, Glen Ellyn, and Carol Stream. Being involved in Tri-Country Business and Professional Grays Liquid Assets One, an investment club.
Later, she became a member of Metropolitan Family Services and volunteered at the Treasure House in Glen Ellyn. Some of the other groups she participated in were the Women's Department Club, Wheaton Women's Republican Club, CERT, Sheriff's Alumni Association, Leisure Club at St. Michael, and Rainbows for all children at St. Michaels. A Christian discussion group – Branches, at Dan's home was very enjoyable.
Loretta is survived by her 3 children, Kathleen Ann (Thomas) Ponsot of Arlington Heights, Scott (Charmaine) Gildo of Villa Park, and Mark Fox of Westmont; 3 grandchildren, Christina Gildo, Timothy and Danielle Ponsot; and her sister, Arlene (Felix) Krock.
A funeral Mass will take place on Wednesday, October 26, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Michael Catholic Church, 310 S. Wheaton Ave., in Wheaton, IL. Family will be receiving guests at church anytime after 9 a.m. Interment will follow at Assumption Cemetery, in Wheaton, IL.
