Lois Erickson, age 92, a longtime resident of Wheaton, IL, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday November 19, 2022, after a lengthy illness.

She and her brother and sister were born August 21, 1930 in Springfield, IL, to Lyman L. and Bessie (Boeker) Atterberry. They were front-page news in the Springfield Journal-Register that week and were hence known as the Atterberry Triplets throughout their rural community.

Not fond of farm life in little Atterberry, IL, Lois moved to Wheaton in the early 1950s and blazed a trail as what was then called a "career gal" before meeting and marrying the handsome and, as she often said, persistent Herb Erickson on December 6, 1958.

Family followed in the 1960s with the births of daughter Pam and son Kurt. Lois was a devoted mom, firm when necessary but also steadfast in her support. A meticulous housekeeper and involved parent, she nonetheless found time to pursue her pastime of creative cooking. Her experimentation with ingredients paid off in 1972 when she was one of 100 finalists in the Pillsbury Bake-Off in Houston.

With her children in school Lois again felt the draw of the working world and in the mid-1970s began what would become a second career in accounting at the Wheaton Eye Clinic.

When not working and, later, in retirement, Lois enjoyed traveling, walks with Herb and their dogs and, always, the restorative powers of a good nap.

Lois is survived by her daughter Pam Otto and son Kurt (Julia) Erickson and grandchildren Caleb and Peyton. Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Herb; her brother, Lyman W. Atterberry and sister Leora M. Atterberry.

A visitation will be held on Friday, November 25, 2022 from 10:00 until 11:00 a.m. at Hultgren Funeral Home, Wheaton, with a funeral service to follow at 11:00am. Interment will follow at a later date at Wheaton Cemetery, Wheaton, IL.
