Lois Rae Brorson, age 83, a resident of Windsor Park in Carol Stream and formerly a longtime resident of Hinsdale, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, June 12 at home surrounded by her loving family. She was born March 1, 1931 in Oak Park to Raymond and Astrid Magnuson. She was the first of three children, followed by two brothers, Bruce and George.

She attended Southerland School, Chicago Christian High School, and North Park College. She graduated from Wheaton College in 1952. The family moved to Hinsdale in 1951 and Lois taught fifth grade at Prospect School in Clarendon Hills as well as in Minneapolis, MN. Lois married Donald Brorson on December 16, 1955. They lived in San Diego, CA and moved back to Hinsdale where they raised their four children.

Lois was active on the Hinsdale Young Life Committee, Garden Club of Hinsdale, Quester Antique Study Group and taught Sunday School and sang in the choir of Hinsdale Evangelical Covenant Church. She also served on the board of the Covenant Retirement Communities. For many years Lois opened her home for a weekly Bible study and enjoyed enduring friendships through the church, community, and Hinsdale Golf Club. She moved to Windsor Park in 2006. Her loving husband, Don, passed away in 2007.

She enjoyed time spent with family and friends at her homes in Door County, Wisconsin and Naples, Florida.

She is survived by her children, Jon (Linda) Brorson of Naperville, Dr. James (Ramona) Brorson of Hinsdale, Linda (Michael) Rogers of Wheaton, and Betsy (Dr. Scott) Love of Wheaton, 18 grandchildren, Kristin (Ryan) Johnson, Karl (Greta) Brorson, Erik Jon Brorson, Ingrid Brorson, Donald Brorson, Isaac Brorson, Louisa Brorson, Chesleigh Rogers, Emma Rogers, Grace Rogers, Matthew Rogers, Katherine Rogers, Andrew Rogers, Caroline Love, Jonathan Love, Analise Love, Thomas Love, and Britta Love, and two great-grandchildren, Elsa and Solveig Johnson. She is also survived by her two brothers, Bruce (Carole) and Rev. George (Rev. Carrie Doehring) Magnuson, and many cousins, nieces and nephews, both in Sweden and the U.S.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald, her parents and her niece, Ann Alise Magnuson.

A visitation will be held on Sunday, June 15, from 2:00 until 6:00 p.m. at Hultgren Funeral Home, 304 N. Main St. in Wheaton. A funeral service will be held on Monday, June 16, at 11:00 A.M. at Hinsdale Evangelical Covenant Church, 412 South Garfield St., Hinsdale, IL 60521. Interment will be held privately at Bronswood Cemetery in Oak Brook.
