Obituary

Lois Anne "Toni" Breseman, (nee Brauer), age 93, died Sunday, March 1, 2026, surrounded by loving family at Sunrise of Naperville. She was born November 4, 1932, in Ann Arbor, MI, daughter of Rev Carl A. and Alice (nee Eifert) Brauer. Her father was a pastor for over 50 years at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Ann Arbor, MI.

Toni was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Her family and her faith in her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ were the most important things in her life. She graduated from Ann Arbor High School in 1950 and attended Valparaiso University and University of Michigan, where she studied art classes. She married the love of her life, Bob Breseman on May 1, 1954. They shared 50 years of marriage, spending time between their home in Wheaton and their cottage in Beulah, Michigan. They also loved traveling across the country, including surprise "mystery trips" planned by her adventurous husband before his passing.

A member of St. John Lutheran Church since 1960 where she was active in the Ladies' Evening Circle, Lutheran Women's Missionary League, the Joy Bible Study Group and many other activities. Toni loved attending live theater with church friends and family members.

For many years, she volunteered her time at ESSE Adult Day Care Center. She served on the ESSE Board as well. Toni had an amazing way of connecting with people, especially older adults, immediately invested in their story and wellbeing. At any event, she was often found at a table leaning forward to hold a hand or touch a shoulder of a new friend. She was unforgettable to all she met.

Her love of vintage clothes inspired Sally, Toni and Sandy, to start STS Silhouettes, a vintage fashion business. A family historian, she held the memories and artifacts of generations before her. Her steel-trap memory allowed her to share stories that kept their history alive and now continue in her extensive collection of scrapbooks and photo albums.

She is survived by Robin (Paul Money) Breseman of Honor, MI, Mark (Jane Hillstrom) Breseman of Dodgeville, WI, Kim (Tuck) Eckstein of Baileys Harbor, WI, Karen (Scott Marquiss) Muehlfelt of Midland, MI, Kristi Breseman of Yorkville, and Michael (Jamie) Breseman of South Elgin; and eight grandchildren, Brittney (Scott) Samek, Kendra (Chad) Holman, Shelby Muehlfelt, Joshua (Kaylin) Eckstein, Abigail (Michael Vaubel) Breseman and Adam (Melanie Green) Breseman, and Grace and Jack Breseman plus eight great-grand children, Macie, Miles, Maverick, Crosby, Mack, Ryker and Atlas and one great-grand child on the way. Great-grandson Maverick preceded her in death.

She is also survived by cousin and lifelong friend, Joyce "Jo" Plinke, cousin Richard Brauer, and many nieces and nephews. Toni was preceded in death by sister Evelyn (Raymond) Stieg and brother Carl (Isabelle) Brauer.

A visitation will be held Monday, April 13, from 4-9 P.M. at Hultgren Funeral Home, 304 N. Main St., Wheaton, IL, and again from 10-11 A.M. on Tuesday, April 14, at St. John Lutheran Church, 410 N Cross St. in Wheaton, where the service will be held on Tuesday at 11:00 A.M.
