Obituary

Lloyd (Pudge) Fredendall Jr. ascended to the Lord on Friday, March 9th, 2018  surrounded by his loving family. Pudge was a proud lifetime member of Local 150 Operating Engineers. Pudge served his country in the Navy Reserves for 8 years.  He worked for Alsterda construction up until retirement.  Pudge loved his John Deere Tractor, in fact he had 2! If he wasn't in the house, he'd be out in the yard on the tractor or making his yard look picture perfect. He was very active in his church, went on several mission trips to Alaska, traveled with his wife to the Holy Land and traveled to many places with friends and family.

He also loved racing, he had gone to the Indianapolis 500 many times.  He was an avid fan of Northwestern and Wisconsin University. He loved the thrill of racing. He even got to ride/drive one. Every Sunday you knew he was watching NASCAR!  He also loved Jeopardy, we always wanted him to be on that show - you knew not to call at 3:30 each day.

He also had the wonderful experience of seeing the Cubs in the World Series!  That last game he decided to go to bed, then he heard the noise, he got up and got to see the winning game!

Pudge was the go to guy - he always knew how to fix something. He loved tinkering in the garage. He was a wonderful caregiver to his wife Barbara when she got sick. Pudge was always there for everyone, he was the rock for many. One of the best things about Pudge was his sense of humor.  Always a laugh. We all loved his laugh. Nieces and Nephews will always remember the "sausage machine"! That will be remembered for a long time.

Pudge (Papa) was the best grandpa to his grandchildren. Each one had a unique relationship with him, they were blessed to have him in their life.  Papa was blessed with his Great Grandson last May - he was so proud of him.He told everyone that he was a Great grandpa. Dad loved his children so much.  Same as his grandchildren, each relationship was unique, but the unconditional love was undeniable. He loved each one with his whole heart.

He was the beloved husband of 55 years to the late Barbara, loving father of Jo Ann (Robert) McGowan, Kathleen Fredendall, Lloyd III ( Vicki) Fredendall, proud grandfather of Sean McGowan, Robert J. McGowan(Danie Sciaky), and Allie Fredendall (Tyler Bridgman), great-grandfather of Weston James McGowan who always made him smile, son of the late Lloyd and Ruth Fredendall, brother of Carolyn (late Ken) Sherman, the late Ernie Fredendall (Peggy), and the late Sandra Griffiths (Frank), brother in law of Alice (Denny) Davoren, loving uncle and friend to many.

Memorials may be directed to Joliet Area Hospice 250 Water Stone Cir, Joliet, IL 60431 or Palos United Methodist Church, 12101 Harlem Ave, Palos Heights, IL 60463.

He will be missed more than we can say, he was the patriarch of the family.  Everyone loved Pudge, He will leave a void in all of our lives. He was known to say this everytime he said good bye he would say…..and it is only appropriate that we say it now. "Keep the Faith" and I know that the first thing God said when dad got to his eternal home is "Well done my good and faithful servant"
