Lillian Mary Swale, age 87, a resident of Warrenville, Illinois went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, January 5, 2022, peacefully in her sleep. She was born on August 20, 1934 in Chicago, Illinois to James and Evelyn (Maybelle) O'Brian.

Lillian and Bill married on June 12, 1954, and raised their 3 boys in Villa Park, Illinois. Lillian was a believer in Jesus Christ and was always very involved in church—First Baptist of Villa Park and later at Community Fellowship in West Chicago. She and Bill were founding members of both churches.

Lillian often opened their home to others, even letting some live with them for extended periods of time. She was well known for her excellent cooking and baking skills. The grandchildren remember wonderful "cousin" sleepovers that always included games and huge breakfasts. Lillian loved games and was a formidable opponent in Scrabble. She also loved swimming—especially with her grandchildren. She loved bringing her family together.

Lillian worked at Warrenville City Hall. After retiring, she volunteered at Edward Hospital in the Gift Shop and was very involved in Bible Study Fellowship. She also loved sewing and knitting and made quilts and blankets for each of her grandchildren and her great-grandchildren. She also knitted dozens if not hundreds of caps for cancer patients which she donated to Edward Hospital.

During her final year of life, Lillian suffered many health setbacks. But no matter what she was going through, she still made everyone she met feel special and loved. Her life was all about other people to the very end. She will be missed.

Lillian is survived by her sister Barbara (late Gene) Ossler, three children, James W. (Terry) Swale, John (Julia) Swale, and Dr. Jerry (Beth) Swale, 11 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.

Private Interment will be held at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood, Illinois. A celebration of Lillian's life will be held at Community Fellowship Church, 28W240 North Ave., West Chicago, IL 60185, on Saturday, April 9, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. with a reception after the service.
