Obituary

Lillian Gathman, age 94, a resident of Windsor Park Manor in Carol Stream, and formerly a longtime resident of Glen Ellyn, died Sunday, August 21 at the Johnson Medical Center at Windsor Park. She was born on February 14, 1911 in Aurora to Lillian and Roy Lintner.
As a young girl her family moved to a farm on Geneva and Bloomingdale Roads. She worked on the farm, driving the truck and tractor. She graduated from Glenbard High School where she went on to work as the secretary to the principal from 1930 until 1940. In 1933 she married Wesley Gathman, a longtime friend. They were very active at the Glen Ellyn Bible Church, where Lillian taught Sunday School, sang in the choir and worked with the youth.
After Wesley died in 1968, she worked for Scripture Press from 1968 to 1976. Then at the age of 65 she worked for Glen Ellyn Bible Church as secretary to the pastor for 10 years. After retireing from the church she worked at Firstar Bank and the Glen Ellyn Chamber of Commerce.
Christ was the center of her life! Her family, the church, and many good friends from church and Windsor Park Manor were important to her.
She is survived by two daughters, Joyce (James) Buettgen of Arkansas and Beverly (Marc) Bothel of WA, two grandsons, Chris ( Katharine) and Scott (Christina) Bothel and one great-grandson, Wesley Robert Pemberton Bothel.
She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents and one sister, Lucile.
A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, Aug. 23 at 2:00 P.M. in the chapel at Windsor Park Manor, 124 Windsor Park Dr., in Carol Stream.
Interment was held privately at Chapel Hill Gardens.
