Lillian A. Smith, age 79, a long time resident of Wheaton, died Thursday, May 25 in Winfield. She was born in Aurora, on December 22, 1926.
Mrs. Smith worked for the Northern Trust Bank for 25 years in data entry. She was a member of St. Michael's Church for the majority of her life, until recently she joined St. John the Baptist in Winfield. She was a devoted mother of seven children who was known for her dedication to her family, work, and friends.
She is survived by her children, Ellen J .Nelson, Richard (Trudy) Smith, Jane (Patrick) Denniger, David M.(Patricia) Smith, Mary Jo Smith, Deborah (Ronald) Zieche, and Donald (Donna) Smith. She is also survived by a number of brothers and sisters; her grandchildren, Mandy (John) Kemp, Michael Smith, Jackie(Tom) Rutkowski, Janelle(Scott) Harrawood, Julie Denniger, Roxann, Carlene, and Kevin Smith, Kimberly Zieche, David, Dustin, and Dawn Smith; and her great-grandchildren, Ricky Smith, Andrew Rutkowski, and Bryan Kuipers.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Michael and Barbara Lies; and three brothers.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 30th, from 4:00 P.M. until 9:00 P.M. at Hultgren Funeral Home, 304 N. Main St., in Wheaton. A Mass will be held at 10:00 A.M. at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 0S 233 Church St., in Winfield, with interment following at St. John Cemetery in Winfield.
