Leonid Meuch, age 59, a resident of Wheaton, died Thursday, April 24, 2014, at home surrounded by his family.  He was born May 23, 1954 in Chicago Heights to Nicholai and Eufrosyna Meuch.

Lee grew up in Steger, Illinois. He graduated from Bloom Township High School, where he enjoyed playing saxophone in the marching band.  He graduated from Southern Illinois University with a degree in accounting and earned an MBA from the University of Chicago in 1990. After working as an accountant, he was hired as Chief Financial Officer for American Pfauter, a gear manufacturer.  In recent years, he has worked as financial consultant for Exxon-Mobil. Since last July he has bravely battled pancreatic cancer.

He has been a member of Gary United Methodist Church for 25 years.  He willingly helped friends and neighbors with technology and enjoyed photo editing of family pictures.  Family was the central part of his life and he actively supported his family and friends in their endeavors.  He was known for his gentle generous personality.

He is survived by his wife, Ellen Bintz, four children, Scott Hollingsworth, Kathryn Hollingsworth, Sophia Meuch and Anna Meuch, his sister, Alla Grzymski and brothers, Victor (Beverly) Meuch and Anatol (Gail) Meuch.
He was preceded in death by his parents.

A visitation will be held on Friday, May 2, 2014 from 4 to 8 p.m. and Saturday, May 3, 2014 from 9:30-10:30 a.m. at Hultgren Funeral Home, 304 N. Main St. in Wheaton. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 3, at 11:00 a.m.  at Gary United Methodist Church , Main and Seminary St. in Wheaton.
