Leonard J. Wiel, age 76, a resident of Wheaton, IL, for over 35 years, passed away at home on March 25, 2018. He was born September 5, 1941 in Chicago to Steve and Anna Wielkiewicz.
After the early death of his parents he was raised by Hank and Helen Karolewicz. He grew up in Chicago and graduated from Wells High School where he was very active in art and music. After he served in the U.S. Military he worked in music and commercial art. He enjoyed playing and singing in bands and recorded songs that had radio play. He worked for many years in the art department of CNA Insurance in Chicago.
Len enjoyed traveling to New England and was inspired by the Americana of the east coast. He was very knowledgeable about classical music and was an avid collector of music.
He is survived by his daughters, Elizabeth Wiel and Julia (Ronald) Hettich, one granddaughter, Sara, his former wife, Dolores Wiel and dear friend, Marge Geringer. He was preceded in death by his brother, Steve.
A memorial visitation will be held on Saturday, April 7, 2018 from 1 to 4 p.m. at Hultgren Funeral Home, 304 N. Main St., Wheaton, where a memorial service will be held at 4:00 p.m.
