Leonard "Lenny" Johncola, age 66, a resident of Carol Stream, IL, passed away on Thursday, March 19, 2026. He was born April 4, 1959 in Chicago, IL to Joseph & Mildred Johncola.
While growing up, Lenny loved spending time at his family’s summer cottage at Delevan Lake in Wisconsin. Later in life he loved to visit his brother’s family in Oregon, spending time with his nieces and nephews camping, kayaking and swimming. He was quite the entertainer. Lenny was fun to be with and had the gift to make people laugh.
He was also known as a kind, sensitive man, full of compassion, always looking out for others. He was ready to serve family and friends with time, acts of service or financial support. In life, he came alongside multiple folks with disabilities becoming a short-term caregiver at different points in time for some. When the opportunity came, he opened his home to friends and family in need, alongside his wife. In the community, he served a short but meaningful time in the CERT program.
He had a heart to encourage others to come follow Jesus, participating in church mission trips, ministry at Pacific Garden Mission and Koinonia House Ministries. At church, he loved serving in the Stars program and meeting people as he manned the book stall. His passions and interests included photography and coin collecting, both of which he shared with his only daughter. He proudly shared his photography in the Art Space at College Church. He will be missed. God love him!
He is survived by his wife of 26 years, Amy; his daughter Anya; and his brother Robert (Cindy). Also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, grand-nieces & grand-nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and his sisters Dolores Johncola & Rosemarie Johncola.
