Leonard Catalano, age 78, a resident of Wheaton, IL, passed away on Thursday, October 19, 2017, at Central DuPage Hospital in Winfield, Illinois. He was born January 27, 1939 in Chicago to Carmen and Catherine Catalano.
Len graduated from Lane Tech High School and then enlisted in the U.S. Army. He had a 32 year career as a life insurance agent and manager at Prudential Insurance where he made lifelong friends. He was a longtime resident of the northwest suburbs of Chicago where he raised a family, along with his former wife Carole. In retirement he moved to Chandler, Arizona.
He was a dedicated Cubs and Bears fan who lived to see his beloved Cubbies win the World Series in 2016. He enjoyed fishing, cooking, photography, reading and listening to music. His friends were an important part of his life and he enjoyed trying new restaurants with them. He loved traveling, camping with his grandsons and canoe trips with his brothers.
He is survived by three daughters, Carrie (Bill) Rogers of Carol Stream, Lenore (Mike) Backode of Wheaton, and Therese (Neil) Youngblood of Wheaton, six grandchildren, Megan, Kelli, Kennedy, Brandon, Dean and Noelle, two brothers, John (Pril) Catalano and Mel (Laura) Catalano and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and two sisters, Connie Catalano and Mary Coombs.
A memorial mass will be held on Friday, October 27, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Michael Catholic Church, West St., Wheaton. Friends may visit with the family from 9:00 until 10:00 a.m. Private interment will be held at St. Michael Cemetery.
