Lenore Evelyn Benson, age 93, a resident of Windsor Park in Carol Stream, Illinois, passed away on Friday, January 7, 2022.  She was born on March 25, 1928, in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada to William James and Mabel Evelyn Ellis.

Lenore grew up in Winnipeg and received a bachelor of arts degree from Northwestern College in Minneapolis, MN where she met the "love of her life," Warren Sten Benson.  Lenore and Warren were married for 48 years until Warren's passing in February 2002.  Lenore partnered with Warren as he served as a pastor in three local churches in Winnetka, IL, Minneapolis, MN, and Pasadena, CA.  During those years, she volunteered in various children's and women's ministry programs.  She also supported Warren as he served as a professor at Dallas Theological Seminary, Trinity Evangelical Divinity School, and Southern Theological Seminary.

For many years, Lenore loved performing with a variety of choral and handbell choirs; most recently with the women's Treble Clef and Carillon Ringers at Windsor Park.  She also enjoyed serving in two local resale shops, "Twice is Nice" and "Repeat Boutique."  She was a voracious reader and especially loved reading God's Word.  She had a warm and kind spirit, always ready to listen and engage in conversation.

Lenore is survived by her two sons, Dr. Scott (Elly) Benson of Anaheim, CA, and Dr. Bruce (Samir) Benson of Edinburgh, Scotland; her grandchildren Annie (Jordan) Varberg, Emily Benson & Scott Benson, Jr.  Her family was always grateful for her generous encouragement and her faithfulness in praying for them.

Private family interment will be held at Irving Park Cemetery in Chicago, Illinois.
