Lenora Littchen was born in Chicago, Illinois on July 22, 1929. She was the only child of Anna Krumin and William Littchen. She attended Patrick Henry Elementary School in Chicago and skipped second grade. She graduated from Roosevelt High School, 1st in her class of over 300 students, at age 16. She was a world traveler. She traveled to all 50 states including Alaska and Hawaii. She went to Hawaii and Latvia several times. She traveled to 13 countries in Europe and 8 countries in South America. She was the traveling companion of her parents, relatives and several childhood friends.
Lenora was a lifelong resident of Illinois. She lived in Chicago, Elmwood Park, and Mc Henry. In 2013, Lenora moved to Windsor Park Covenant Living in Carol Stream, Illinois.
Lenora attended Moody Church and became a member on December 29, 1946. She was a member of Moody Snelodettes, a girls' sexlet in Friendship Club. She was the 1st female President of the C.C. Club. Her previous roles included Vice President, Recording Secretary, Assistant Treasurer, Missionary Secretary, Program Director, Hospital Chairman, Member of Radio Choristers (Marching Youth Broadcast), Ladies Ensemble, Choir Member, and Friday Night Club Leader. Lenora enjoyed playing the piano and ministering to the youth. She was a Pioneer Girls Leader, a camp counselor, a Sunday School teacher of 2 & 3 year olds, and 4 & 5 year olds. She was the Department Superintendent of the Beginners as well as the Pinnint Beginner Department Choir. She was in charge of the Children's Day program for Sunday School where she was also in charge of games for the Sunday School and Church picnic.
Lenora was a woman of many talents. She worked for 48 years. She began working in the insurance field in August of 1946 and retired on her 65th birthday in 1994. Her first job was at Continental Insurance Company where she was the assistant bookkeeper and cashier. She worked for Ames, Emerick & Co as a bookkeeper, Lauerman Brothers as a secretary to 1 of 2 owners and for Gerald Myers as a secretary to the owner as well as being an officer in his different companies, assistant secretary and executive assistant. Lenora was a meticulous bookkeeper and accountant, she was a hard worker and never left a job unfinished.
Lenora loved the Lord Jesus Christ and served Him all the days of her life. Her favorite verse was Proverbs 3: 5-6. Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths. Her favorite hymn was Great is Thy Faithfulness. Lenora was strong and courageous. She fell and broke her hip in late September and was recovering in Johnson Health Center until the Lord called her home on October 22, 2022. Lenora was loved and will be missed by her family and friends. Lenora will be laid to rest alongside her parents, whom she was the caregiver, in Irving Park Cemetery.
