Lee A. Hoeft, age 88, a resident of Carol Stream, IL, died Thursday, September 28, 2017, at Central DuPage Hospital in Winfield, Illinois. He was born March 30, 1929 in Oak Park, Illinois.

Lee grew up in the Oak Park, IL area. He served in the Army in World War II, stationed in Japan, and trained as a paratrooper. He earned a Bachelor's degree at the University of Iowa where he competed on the swim team. He married Nancy Kupper in 1953. He was an avid handball player and competitor. He worked in the printing business in Chicago for over 45 years. He was always involved in his local church. The family spent many summers in Lake Geneva, where he eventually retired. He loved his family and especially loved spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Nancy Hoeft, nee Kupper; three children, Daniel (Monica) Hoeft of Elmhurst, IL, Pam (Doug) Wilderman of West Chicago, IL, and Jenny (Dave) Nagle of Villa Park, IL; nine grandchildren, Andy and Adam Hoeft, Sara O'connor, Sheri (Ron) O'connor-Young, Daniel Czuba and Natalie Wilderman, and Sophia, Louis and Noah Nagle; two great-grandchildren, Carter and Kennedi Young; his sister, Lois Preston; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Linda Smith; his sister, Reina Hallagan; and his brother, Wayne Hoeft.

A visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 4, 2017 from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Hultgren Funeral Home, 304 N. Main St., in Wheaton, IL. On Thursday, October 5, at 12:30 p.m., the Hoeft family welcomes all friends to join them for a light lunch at Windsor Park Retirement Community , 124 Windsor Park Drive, in Carol Stream, IL. Afterwards a memorial service will take place at 2:00 p.m. in the Windsor Park Auditorium.

Interment will be private at Arlington Cemetery in Elmhurst, IL.
