Lawrence "Larry" Winton Hill, Jr. aged 92, a resident of Wheaton IL for 61 years, passed away on May 4th, 2026. He was born August 10, 1933 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania to Lawrence W. Hill, Sr. and Janet Moon Hill.
Larry's early years were spent on the west side of Chicago, where he enjoyed riding street cars, sports, Lionel Trains and caring for dogs and cats. His family moved to Northlake, IL where new neighborhoods were sprouting up near the end of WWII. He attended Leyden High School where he competed in Cross Country with his team qualifying for the State Championship. Next, he served his country in the U.S. Army in the Korean War. After the war, Larry attended North Park College in Chicago. At the encouragement of his lifelong friend and roommate James M. Fox, he finished his Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration at Augustana College, Rock Island. There, he played football and was a member of the track team. At Augustana, he met Ann Marie Danielson. They married in Iron Mountain, MI settling in Northlake IL and then Wheaton IL.
Larry's career in Marketing and sales began at United Airlines shortly after the completion of O'Hare Airport. During his time at United, he was tasked with developing business for the new Denver hub. His job included promoting ski vacation travel to the many new Colorado and Utah ski resorts. This was the beginning of Larry's lifelong love of skiing where each weekend he filled his AMC station wagon with neighborhood kids and ski equipment. For four years, he created and hosted a UHF channel TV show, first called "Ski Talk" and then "The Snow Show."
Most of his career, Larry represented companies in the new computer and data technologies. Marketing of data time sharing services was an early part of his career, and it led to selling the first email services in Great Britian. In 1981, Larry completed a contract with British Telecom.
He was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Wheaton, IL and served as a layman on the board. He served on the Board of Directors for Augustana Hospital in Chicago, IL.
Larry is survived by his wife Ann of nearly 65 years, his son Daniel (Heather), Andrew and Peter (Wendy). He was proceeded in death by infant son, Richard and brother Richard Hill. Surviving grandchildren are Samuel, Charlie, Grace, Graham, Margaret and Harold "HL".
