Larry  Mineau, age 82, a recent resident of Houston,TX but lived most of his life in the Chicago area, died on Saturday, January 6, 2024 .  He was born on July 1, 1941 in Chicago, IL  to Doris and Lawrence Mineau.

He grew up in Chicago near Wrigley Field, living across the street from his future wife, Lynn.  He attended Lane Tech High School and started his college years at University of Illinois, then on Navy Pier.  He finished his Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering in Champaign, where Lynn joined him as his wife.  He laughingly recalled how "there was nothing wrong" with riding Lynn on his bike to the hospital as she was in labor with eldest daughter Wendy. They did what they had to do!

After graduation they resided in Park Forest where son Tim was born and then youngest Lauren.  Their family was complete by the young age of 25.  Larry held only a handful of different jobs throughout his career, he preferred getting dirty working as a plant engineer rather than in a white collar office. They remained in the south suburbs of Chicago, where his greatest hobby was breeding and showing bassett hounds.

Larry enjoyed watching his children grow while supporting their various activities, thru their marriages and birth of his three grandsons. And then he loved attending his grandson's activities. After Lynn passed away, he moved to Houston.

He is survived by his daughter, Wendy (David) Farner, their children, Michael Farner and Daniel Farner, his son, Timothy Mineau, and his daughter, Lauren (Patrick) Polzin, and their son Bryce (13); his brothers, Ken (Cynthia) Mineau; and their children and grand-children, and Tom (Wendy) Mineau; and their children and grand-children.  He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Lynn.

A visitation will be held on Saturday, January 20, 2024 from 2 to 5 at Hultgren Funeral Home, 565 Randy Rd., Carol Stream, IL 60187. A service will be held at 4:00 p.m.
