Lan Barilla, age 67, a resident of Wheaton, IL, went to be with the Lord on Friday, June 21st. Lan was born in Vietnam on October 10th, 1951.
She lived an adventurous life in Vietnam and moved to the United States as a young adult, settling in Chicago with her husband and son. She went on to have three more children and was a loving mother and grandmother.
Lan had a strong passion for gardening, sewing, knitting, and cooking. Later in life she became a Chicago sports fan. Lan had a giving heart and strongly enjoyed taking care of children and volunteering in the Bethel Presbyterian Church and summer Bible camp. She also found joy in walking and observing the beauty of God's outdoor creations, especially Chicago's lakefront. But most importantly, as a tribute to her own mother's love, she put her family before herself.
Lan is survived by her four beloved children; Mark (Rachel) Barilla, missionaries, Linda (Curtis) Kneller of Morris, IL, Steven (Heather) Barilla of Wheaton, IL, and Lisa (Huy) Doan of Brookfield, WI. She is also survived by ten grandchildren; Ned, Evelyn, Joshua, Elizabeth, Nathan, Emily, Faith, Brian, Kelsey and Hannah. She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers.
Memorial gifts may be directed to Bethel Presbyterian Church.
