IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Kurt E.
Ewoldt
February 20, 1962 – October 15, 2023
Kurt E. Ewoldt, age 61, a resident of Naperville, IL, unexpectedly passed away from cancer treatment complications on Sunday, October 15, 2023. He was surrounded by his loving wife and son.
Kurt grew up in Wheaton, Illinois to loving parents Ed and Nancy Ewoldt. He graduated from Wheaton Central High School in 1980 and secured a scholarship for wrestling at Western Michigan University in Kalamazoo where he graduated with his Bachelor's degree in Geology. Yes, Geology. This was a natural stepping stone to his career in rocks, or more specifically cement. Kurt started in quality control for numerous companies in the Chicago area and Colorado but he found his true calling in Sales. Kurts secret to success was his attention to detail, caring nature and kindness towards all. For over 20 years Kurt shared his skills as a respected sales representative for Mountain Cement in Denver and eventually VP of Sales for Illinois Cement Company in the Chicagoland area. He cherished many friendships made along the way.
Kurt was fond of many things, but his biggest joy was being a father to his 17-year-old son, Tyler. They had many things to bond over… skiing, golfing, card games, fishing baseball, football, or a good movie. Kurt was an amazing father who taught Tyler many lessons but most importantly was to respect and care for others. He was also an amazing husband whose dedication and support to Kriston was inspiring. He enjoyed outdoor walks or just sitting in his backyard admiring the flowers, birds and hopefully a few hummingbirds with a good bottle of wine. He wasn't shy in sharing his love and knowledge of wine and many benefitted! His love and dedication towards his family and friends will be his true legacy. Kurt was that "solid as a rock" guy that was there when you needed him.
He is survived by his wife Kriston; son Tyler; dog Riley; father Edmund; brothers Eric (Wife Valerie; Nieces Jourdan & Corie) & Steve (Wife Beth; Niece Hannah (Weston), Nephew Zach (Katie); and numerous nieces, nephews, relatives & friends.
He was preceded in death by his mother Nancy; his sister Karen; and father-in-law Roger Hicks.

Memorial gifts may be directed to:
• St. Jude Children's Research Hospital -- St. Jude is dear to Kurt because Tyler was hospitalized on 2 different occasions and although his hospitalizations were not that serious, it hit home for how many families have to deal with children's illnesses and the financial burdens.
• Bright Directions -- College fund for Tyler who is currently a senior in High School and preparing applications for schools in Colorado, Tennessee, Utah, and Florida. (Kurt was very excited about Tyler attending a school of his choice, regardless of location and cost.) A link to donate will be available soon. Please check back at a later time.
