Obituary

Kraig "Chip" Paul Krueger (60), of Wheaton, Illinois, went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Thursday, September 4, 2025, when he passed away peacefully in his sleep in Glen Arbor, Michigan. He was born August 31,1965 and lived his entire life in Wheaton, IL. He graduated from Wheaton Academy in 1983 and from Wheaton College, Wheaton Illinois, with a BA degree in economics and business in 1987.

After graduating, he worked in the financial services industry.  Eventually he became the president of Tower Financial Management Company and Tower Wealth Advisors in Wheaton, IL. His expertise  was in the development and implementation of retirement planning for high net-worth clients.

In 1990, Chip met the love of his life, Darlene Strope. They were married at Glen Ellyn Bible Church in 1992, and he brought steadfastness, adventure, and humor to their 33 years of marriage.  They had one daughter, Katie, who he loved spending time with, whether they were watching film noir, playing ping pong, or sharing deep theological discussions around the firepit. Chip had one sister, Kandy, who he shared many memories and interests with. He loved golfing with his dad, Kurt.

Chip firmly believed that salvation only comes through a personal relationship with Jesus Christ, and belief in Christ's life, death, and resurrection. He embodied this among his family, the church, and the community. It was his joy to serve on the board of Joni and Friends, which provides support for those with disabilities and their families, and the Wheaton Academy Foundation Board, which manages the Academy's endowment. He had a passion for missions and was involved with Partners and In His Steps Ministry, which provides a holistic approach to transforming the lives of and sharing the gospel with incarcerated youth in Canton, Mississippi. Each week, he led a Bible study in their home.

He had an immense variety of interests, incredible mind and photographic memory. He could connect with anyone he met on any topic. Researching Wheaton history, in particular the architect Jarvis Hunt and his connection with the original Wheaton colony, was an interest that began at an early age, sparked by living in a historic home next door to the descendants of the Wheaton family. He served on the Wheaton Center for History Board and coauthored a book with Marcia Martin. No family vacation was complete without touring at least one historic site, often a historic home built by Frank Lloyd Wright, William Morris Hunt, or Greene & Greene. His love of architecture and a good challenge met in his carpentry workshop, where he built and designed many elements of their home. Chip loved to travel, whether it was exploring a new city or returning to a favorite place. Each year, Chip looked forward to spending a week with his friends fishing for muskie in Canada, and an annual family vacation to Glen Arbor, Michigan. He had a knack for finding amazing restaurants and enjoyed sharing great food with family and friends. He cherished dinners together as a family over Darlene's cooking. Movie nights were another favorite, often featuring film noir, James Bond, and anything by Alfred Hitchcock. More recently, he began researching and collecting classic cars. He loved to share the things he loved with all those around him.

Anyone who met Chip was immediately immersed in his witty humor and stories. He was always available to offer wisdom and advice to anyone who asked, and he made each person feel as though they were his best friend.

Although Chip is no longer with us, we have assurance that we will one day see him again in heaven. As Billy Graham said, "For the believer there is hope beyond the grave, because Jesus Christ has opened the door to heaven for us by His death and resurrection."

Chip was preceded in death by his mother, Joy Lundquist, and step-mother Pam Krueger.

He is survived by his wife Darlene Krueger, daughter Katie Krueger, father Kurt Krueger, sister Kandy Craig, and brother-in-law Jim Craig.
