Obituary

Khandubhai Patel, age 82, a resident of Naperville, IL, died Monday, September 22, 2014, at Seasons Hospice in Naperville, Illinois. He was born December 2, 1932 in India to Dayalji and Samiben Patel.

Mr. Patel completed his Bachelor's degree in Engineering in India. In 1956, he came to the United States and earned a Masters Degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor. In 1958, he returned to India and started a construction firm that he ran until 1978. He then moved with his family to Oak Park, Illinois.

He continued to be in business using all his entrepreneurial skills and abilities and finally retired from New York Life Insurance Company.

He was a member of the American Society of Civil Engineers, Member of Concrete Institute and a member of American Society of Structural Engineers.

He was a self-made person, who began with nothing but a strong intelligence and a desire to help his family. He was selfless and lived for others and was dedicated to his grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife, Shantaben, son Vinod and daughter-in-law Darshna, daughter Rita and son-in-law Sanjay, son Deepak and daughter-in-law Chetna, sister Nirmala, brother Bhikhu, six grandchildren, Kunal, Sejal, Rahul, Nehal, Tarika, and Ritika and several nieces and nephews.

A Puja will be held on Wednesday, September 24, at 11:00, prayers and funeral will be held at 12:00 at Hultgren Funeral Home, 304 N. Main St. in Wheaton, IL 60187.

In lieu of memorial gifts may be directed to the American Lung Association or Seasons Hospice .
