Obituary

Kenny Hansen, 65, passed on from his home in Santa Barbara to his Heavenly Home on July 3, 2010.

A memorial service will be held at 3:30PM Monday July 12th at All Saints-by-the-Sea Episcopal Church, 3 Eucalyptus Lane Santa Barbara, CA 93108.

Kenny was born October 17, 1944 in Chicago, Illinois to Ken and Jean Hansen. As a Down Syndrome child, he received special love from his parents, his family and many friends. He gave back extraordinary love.
He will always be remembered for his long hugs and big smiles.

Kenny is survived by his brothers and sisters: Walter Hansen, Vince Nelson, Jim Nelson, Joyce Spurlock, Jean Johnson, and Linnea Kuhnhausen. Nineteen nephews and nieces and eleven grand nephews and nieces love him as Uncle Kenny.

In different seasons of his life, Kenny worshipped at College Church in Wheaton, IL., El Montecito Presbyterian Church, Ocean Hills Covenant Church, Goleta Covenant Community Church and All Saints by the Sea Episcopal Church. He loved to sing hymns, listen to the choir, and take Communion. He enthusiastically expressed a deep faith in Jesus. He often emphatically asserted: "Jesus died for me." He talked about his "New Home" in Heaven where he would see Jesus and his Daddy and Mommy who preceded him.

Kenny enjoyed attending Alpha Resource Center, Friendship Center, and Santa Barbara Riding Academy. Kenny's family is grateful for the loving supported living care Kenny received for the last fifteen years from San Felipe Supported Living under the direction of Kathryn Legros. His long time care-givers include Thanh Doan, Connie Coleman, and Rose Forsyth. The tender care of Visiting Nurses and Hospice carried Kenny through the last stage of his earthly journey.
