Kenneth Wayne Sobczak entered the presence of his Lord on July 17, 2023, at the age of 71. He was born on November 3, 1951 in Cicero, Illinois. He graduated from Tinley Park High School, then went on to earn a BS in Electrical Engineering from IIT, where many of his classes were completed while working full-time. He was employed by Commonwealth Edison / Exelon from graduation in 1972 until he was forced by illness to retire in 2010. He earned multiple NERC (North American Electrical Reliability Corporation) certifications and was respected at work for his wit and his quick, calm, and accurate decision-making in a crisis. He had many hobbies and interests including motorcycles (only a Harley!), old cars, airplanes, space exploration,  anything WW II, trains, photography, computers, vintage radios, and watches. He enjoyed learning and did everything with great care.

Ken was preceded in death by his father Donald Sobczak and his sister Donalyn Jurkiewicz (Ralph Miller). He is survived by his mother Aurania Sobczak, his beloved wife Theresa Langeland Sobczak, sons Timothy Joel (Jody) and Michael Aaron Sobczak, grandchildren Caden, Lincoln and Sage Sobczak, a brother Richard (Lillian) Sobczak and nieces Amy and Taylor Jurkiewicz. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

A visitation will be held at the Compass Church, 520 E. Roosevelt Rd., Wheaton, IL on July 28, 2023 from 9:00a.m. until the time of service at 11:00a.m. Interment will follow at Chapel Hill Gardens South in Oak Lawn at 2:30p.m.
