Kenneth P. Smith, age 97, a resident of Windsor Park in Carol Stream, and formerly a resident of Hinsdale, died Friday, September 23, 2011, at Windsor Park. He was born May 23, 1914 in South Bend, IN.

In 1939 he married Winifred Flood in South Bend. He began his career in accounting in the railroad industry. Over the years he worked his way up to the position of vice-president of finance. He was an avid golfer and he and Winifred enjoyed spending time at their Arizona home. He was a member of the Union League Club, Beverly Country Club, and HInsdale Golf Club. He served on the board of the Salvation Army and served on various nonprofit boards. He was a longtime member of Grace Episcopal Church in Hinsdale and was a faithful attender of vespers services at Windsor Park.

He is survived by his sons, Kenneth Jr. (Linda) Smith of South Elgin and Robert (Beverly) Smith of The Colony, Texas, five grandchildren, and one great-grandchild. He is also survived by one sister Mary Alice Taylor.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Winifred, two daughters, Carolyn and Marijane and a brother, Robert and sister, Helen Goss.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, October 28, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel at Windsor Park Manor, 124 Windsor Park Dr., in Carol Stream, IL. Interment is private.
