Ken Olsen, age 60, a resident of Wheaton, Illinois died on Friday, December 2nd, 2016 at Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, IL. He was born July 14, 1956 in Chicago, IL to the late Paul and Gladys Olsen.
Ken grew up in Chicago, Illinois, attended Wheaton College, and went on to work for OJVM Company after completing his college studies. He proceeded to own and manage rental property until he retired in March of 2016.
Ken met his wife, Donna in the church youth group in high school. They began dating when Donna was 16 and Ken was 18 years old. They married four years later on November 18, 1978. Ken and Donna together trusted God with the journey of life and in raising their three beautiful children, Steph, Christie and Jake. As a family, they took great joy in celebrating life together. They have lived for the last 20 years in Wheaton. Mike joined their family when he married Steph in 2008 and became another son to Ken.
Ken was a lover of life and a he lived each day to the fullest. He enjoyed hiking, reading, and being active. Ken thrived on serving others and traveling the world with the people he loved. The mountains, oceans, and glaciers of Norway had a special place in his heart. He had a keen memory and could give extensive details about almost any subject including history and politics. He was the most loyal husband, father, son, brother, and friend one could ever hope for.
Ken is survived by his wife Donna and their children Steph (Mike), Christie, and Jake. He was also survived by many relatives in the Olsen family including his sisters Carolyn (Rich), Gloria, and Nancy (Dave).
Ken's family will miss him every day but celebrate the life they were blessed to share with him.
A visitation will be held on Saturday, December 10, 2016 from 10 a.m. until the start of a funeral service to be held at 1:00 p.m. at Hultgren Funeral Home, 304 N. Main St., in Wheaton, IL. Interment will be private.
