Obituary

Kenneth Robert Anderson, 87, of Elk Grove Village, Illinois, adopted son of Harold R. and Hilda B. Anderson, born in Provincetown, MA, on February 3,1937 peacefully entered into eternal life, on June 2, 2024.  He is survived by his wife Arlyce, his sister Judi (late Peter) Foley, his daughter Lynnette (Robert) Binkus, his sons Steven (Amy), and Timothy Daniel (Monica). He had 4 grandchildren, Larissa DePasqua (Adam), Trent (Vicki) Binkus, Eric Anderson, and Sarah Anderson. He also had two great grandchildren, Daniel DePasqua and Elizabeth (Eliza) Binkus, plus nieces and nephews.

Ken was born in Provincetown MA and was placed in the Home for the Little Wanderers. He was adopted on Christmas Eve, 1938 at 22 months old. He moved quite a bit as a child- living in Chelmsford, MA, Warwick, RI, Goshen, IN, and Portsmouth NH.  After graduating from Portsmouth H.S in 1955, he went to North Park College and to University of Minnesota where he received a BA in Social Studies.  He also earned masters plus degrees in Counseling.

Ken met Arlyce at InterVarsity Christian Fellowship when he was a student at UMN. In 1960, they were married and moved to Janesville ,WI where he started teaching History in a Junior High. After that, they moved to Baraboo, WI and Ken became a High School Guidance Counselor. In 1968, the family moved to Elk Grove Village, IL where Ken continued his work as a Guidance Counselor in the Niles school system until his retirement.

The last two years of his life, Ken lived in Briarwood in Encore (Friendship) Village. His family would come and play cards with him regularly, which he enjoyed.

Ken loved travel, gardening, sports (his Grandchildren's games, Chicago Wolves, and all the Boston teams), swimming, reading, ice cream, and playing card games. He was very active in church- teaching Sunday school, being on the missions board, driving people to church, and volunteering for work days. He was also a member of a Bible Study Fellowship.

Family and Friends are welcome to attend a memorial celebration of Ken's life on Saturday, June 22 at Village Point Church, 801 Beisner Road, Elk Grove Village, Il 60007. Visitation will be from 10-11 with the service starting at 11 a.m. A luncheon will be provided afterwards. Burial will be private.
