Obituary

Kenneth Algozin, 86, passed away peacefully on December 19, 2017 at Belmont Village in Carol Stream. Ken and his surviving wife of 58 years, Charlotte, were long time residents of Elk Grove Village. Ken and Char were dedicated volunteers at Meals on Wheels for over 30 years, and were active members of Prince of Peace Methodist Church, where they both sang in the choir. For many years, Ken was active in the Masonic Lodge and Medinah Shrine Temple.

Ken was born in Chicago to his parents Louis and Lillian Algozin, and was a graduate of Von Steuben High School and Northwestern University. He met and married Charlotte in France in 1959. After completing his service as a 1st Lieutenant in the U.S. Air Force, he and Char moved to Elk Grove in 1960 where they raised their three children Ken Jr., Kim (Black) and Doug. He worked as an accountant for most of his career with the law firm Wilson & McIlvaine in Chicago. Ken and Char enjoyed traveling and bicycle touring around the world with dear friends. One of their favorite spots to vacation was the island of Kauai, where they spent many peaceful hours on the lanai whale watching and playing cribbage. Ken was an avid bowler and golfer in his early adult life. He also enjoyed music, reading, and a good glass of wine.

Ken was a devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather of six (Casey, Kevin, Clare, Will, Grear, and Ellen), and great-grandfather to James. A brilliant dry wit and sense of humor; courage and perseverance when faced with health challenges; and a strong devotion to family and dear friends; these are qualities that those close to him will always cherish.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his brothers Franklin and Warren. A memorial service will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a memorial gift in Ken's name be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
